Girls On the Run of the Flint Hills
works with over 410 girls in the Flint Hills region, including 168 from USD 383. 35% of those girls receive financial assistance through direct programming scholarships and running shoe funding. This past year, they were forced to make the difficult decision to cancel in person programming and move to a virtual programming model, due to COVID-19.
Despite this change, they have remained steadfast in their commitment to serving girls in our community through several at-home programs that allowed the girls to participate, including GOTR at Home lessons, the social media/email campaign – GOTRGotYourBack, the Girls on the Run Virtual 5K, and POWER UP Activity Kits. Each provided valuable resources to the girls and their families, keeping the girls learning, moving, and growing.
