Big Brothers Big Sisters of Manhattan has been able to make a positive difference in the lives of many Manhattan area youth this past year. Many of the matches learned how to adjust to the pandemic and have been able to stay in touch and still interact in positive ways. Recently matched, Little Brother Malachi and Big Brother Julian are working on some big goals this next year – exploring Malachi’s life after high school through resume building, career exploration, and personal development. Big Sister Rachel and Little Sister Alecia communicated via text & Zoom throughout the COVID-19 shutdown and were able to hike to the top of Manhattan Hill after things opened back up. Big Sister Elizabeth & Little Sister Armani stayed connected throughout the pandemic through weekly FaceTime calls. Going above and beyond, Elizabeth sent Armani and her siblings care packages once a month filled with games, toys, and treats to get them through this difficult COVID-19 season. Big Sister Kia and Little Sister Dana were matched right before COVID-19, but texted each other throughout and were able to meet up for a socially-distant stroll through Cico Park.
