This past year, Girls on the Run of the Flint Hills served 156 elementary aged girls across the region. Of these participants, 76 students from Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 were awarded full or partial scholarships, and 22 received a pair of new running shoes. The girls’ participation in the program allows them to learn skills that are important for the rest of their lives. As one USD 383 School Principal stated, “Girls on the Run has given our students tools, strategies, and language to be successful in all areas of their lives – from understanding the importance of physical fitness to learning how to resolve conflicts.” The YES! Fund proudly supports such important after-school programs as Girls on the Run.
