The Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan provides caring, adult professionals and a safe place for youth to learn and grow. It’s a place where hope and opportunity is provided through life-enhancing programs and character development experiences. Before school, after school, during the summer months and on Friday nights, the Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan engages members in fun and educational activities that help develop a sound moral compass and influence their ability to succeed in life. With the help of the YES! Fund, they were able to provide these affordable programs, safe transportation and helpful tutors to students in Kindergarten to grade 12.
Parents are finding the programs at The Boys & Girls Club to be engaging and helpful for their children. One parent said it has been a “very positive experience. Regardless of whether I have an work appointment, my children want to get to the Club as early as they can. And when I pick them up in the afternoon, they are in no hurry to leave.”
Another parent said, “My child had no to little social skills when he entered the program. In fact, his special education teacher did not think he could “do” the program. He absolutely loves the program. I see more independence in him and more willingness to go to group or public events.
The Boys & Girls Club of Manhattan truly impacts the kids they work with. One child even asked her parent how she could be a Boys & Girls Club leader when she grew up.
